• "We had family surf lessons with Matt two days ago - what a phenomenal day, definitely a highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. He got all five of us up and surfing in no time (twin 11 yr old daughters, 8 yr old daughter and two 40+ers). What was most impressive is that one of our 11 yr old daughters broke her wrist two days earlier and was heartbroken that she wouldn't be able to surf. When Matt learned that her cast was waterproof he said "no problem, I'll take care of her"...he took her out tandem and coached/cheerlead her until she stood while he maneuvered the board...if he can teach an 11 yr old girl with a broken wrist to surf, he can teach anyone! Matt is a skilled teacher as he had the other two riding waves quickly and their confidence soared by the end of the day...the faces on all three were sore the next day from smiling so much!
  
  Matt is an amazing guy...professional and fun and possesses an infectious enthusiasm...we were fortunate to meet his lovely wife Natasha and their boys at the end of the day, they are a quality family and he is a stand up guy. If you come to Costa Rica, you MUST surf with Matt Craig and Point Break Surf...I literally could not give a higher recommendation.

Matt and Natasha have a terrific business that they run near Playa Conchal. My wife wanted surf lessons for her birthday and I emailed Point Break Surf a week in advance to make reservations and tell them in was my wifes birthday. • "As first time surfers, it was a little nerve-racking thinking about getting lessons, what kind of equipment we'd use, how good the teacher would be and of course, if we'd be able to catch onto it. No worries with Matt, though! He took us to Playa Grande, which was perfect for our needs. Little waves that were in no way intimidating and it was so quiet that we didn't have to worry about hurting anyone else. My boyfriend and I stayed at Paradisus Playa Conchal and Matt come to pick us up right at the resort with surf boards on top of his four runner. Not only was he a wonderful teacher and cheerleader, but he has such an amazing life story- very inspirational!! I would highly recommend these surf lessons to anyone looking to try to stand up on a board-- matt's teaching style plus the calm waves of costa rica is the way to do it! My husband and I booked a lesson and were very pleased with Matt's professionalism and immense patience...he is very focused on safety and does his best to make sure his students feel comfortable. He does door to door pick-up/drop off, provides top of the line equipment..but perhaps more than that, he is a real character and fun to hang out with for a few hours..though maybe it's just the cute new zealand accent..highly recommend (I was terrified and I got up a few times!" • "My wife and our 2 daughters came to Costa Rica for 2 weeks over Christmas. We stayed in Potrero near Flamingo at a resort. Our trip really started a few days after we got there as we met up with MATT from POINT BREAK SURF. Being from Toronto, Canada we were reluctant at first to try surfing, however Matt made the experience fun and he got all of us up surfing after a lesson and about an hour of falling while he coached us. It was a few hours of laughing and learning. We went back again 2 days later for more.
  
  For my family we all agreed that along with the surfing the best part was Matt's personality and his going out of his way to drive down from our resort all the way along the beach to where we surfed.   I have been surfing for a few years part time but didnt want to lug a board down to CR during a family vaca. What a bonus I found Matt. He picked me up at the front desk with four different boards to choose from and we spent the day on a chill beach break at playa grande about 15 minutes away. My sister came along (in the water only once prior) and with Matt's help, she ended up catching more waves than me!!!
